What is the emergency?
The common definition of an Emergency is an urgent, unexpected, and usually dangerous situation that poses an immediate risk to health (life), wealth(property), and the environment and requires immediate action to control it.
Emergency and our thoughts.
Always remember that an emergency is a critical situation and there are two main reasons for an emergency. First natural emergency and second man-made emergency.
In a natural emergency, we have no pre-planned prevention plan that is exact to the type of emergency. As we think about flood emergencies, we see the chances of floods increasing day by day. We did not think about earthquakes because we feared the floods. In this situation, earthquakes can be more dangerous and cause unbelievable losses. So it’s good to think about each angle when you are a responsible person in the society.
In other words case of a man-made emergency we already know that if we do this work without safety, that can be dangerous and create an emergency for us. So we can plan this work by doing it as safely as we can.
Responsibilities of safety staff.
If we want to become good EHS and HSE officers, we should know about The definition of emergency, types of emergencies, and actions taken during an emergency.
Safety in emergency

- Natural Disaster: Disasters naturally appear in life like earthquakes, floods, and thunderstorms.
- Man-made Disaster: A man-made disaster is caused by humans like accidents, fires, and chemical spills.
Types of emergencies
- 1. Earth quick emergency.
- 2. Fire emergency.
- 3. Accidental emergency.

What is an accidental emergency?
An accidental emergency occurs when a moving machine hits another machine or hits a person or other object and causes death of a person or serious injury to a person. A person falling from a height or death while working on a machine by electric shock or by serious mistake by a worker is an accidental emergency.
Properly training operators or workers in machine safety can prevent accidental emergencies.
worker’s safety or personal protection equipment should be available to every operator or worker while working on the machine.
Sometimes overconfident workers cause the accident to neglect the safety equipment during work.
Draw aizen marking around the machine or in the building to safe entrance or exit from the building in normal or in the case of an emergency.
Use rubber shoes or rubber shoe covers to prevent worker slipping problems.
Training workers according to their duty can remove or reduce accidental emergencies.
Chemical handling training for chemical store workers or lab workers.
How to carry weight without or with less physical effort for mechanical or store workers.
Difference between accident and incident.
The Definition of an Emergency defines us difference between an accident and an incident. A minor type of accident that damages a body part of a person or a Minor loss of property or even without loss of person or property but suddenly appears or done unexpected things is called an incident.
However, some incidents can damage or die a person and cause property loss. For example, recently a famous cricketer died after hitting the ball at his head. This incident was the death of the cricketer caused by hitting the ball in the head. Normally a cricket ball can’t damage a person’s body part or cause death.
