Introduction to Evacuation
The immediate escape of people away from an area that contains hazards like fire, earthquake, or accidents to lives or property is called evacuation from the building. Evacuation from a building is a critical procedure. The purpose of evacuation policy is to ensure the safety of individuals in the event of an emergency such as a fire, natural disaster, or other life-threatening situations.
Evacuation procedure from the building
1. Alarm Activation
When a potential emergency is identified, immediately press the manual call point and activate the building’s alarm system. This may include fire alarm systems, manual or electric sirens.
2. Immediate Action:
Upon hearing the alarm or receiving notification about any emergency, workers should immediately evacuate from the building. Always remember to stay calm and do not use elevators. Use stairwells instead of elevators.
